Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “On June 3, 2025, deputies responded to a 911 call of a
shooting with no location information from the victim. The phone call was traced to the Patty
Street area in Lawtell. The victim had fled the area and was concealed in a nearby shed.
Officers located the victim and learned that she was meeting someone in the area, but was
unable to locate the street. While travelling down a lane, Meche appeared and began shooting
at her. The victim was able to speed away and conceal herself until approached by officers.
While officers were speaking to the victim, gunshots again rang out. Additional officers were
dispatched and through the assistance of neighbors, Skylar Meche was identified as the person
firing the gun, which neighbors reported he often does.” Sheriff Guidroz continues, “Through

the assistance of family member, Meche exited the residence and was taken into custody
without incident. While we are pleased to report that our victim was uninjured, it was learned
that she had an outstanding bench warrant for failure to report to court relating to charges of
Armed Robbery and was taken into custody for that.”
