21 July 2023 (OPELOUSAS, Louisiana) — The Committee to Elect Michael “Mike” Fontenot is proud to formally announce the candidacy of Michael “Mike” Fontenot for St. Parish District 9 Council Member.
With a strong commitment to improving District 9 and St. Landry Parish, Mike Fontenot brings dedicated leadership and a conservative vision to address the district’s evolving challenges amid changes in the economy and demographics.
“I have lived in District 9 my whole life; in fact, my parents still reside in my childhood home in Park Vista,” said Fontenot. “The main issues that I see facing District 9 are Drainage, Roads, and Economic Growth, and I have a plan to address these issues.”
As a first-time candidate, Fontenot acknowledges that he is not a traditional politician, but he is driven by his faith and family to step forward at this opportune moment. With his background in small business, he recognizes the significance of fostering a business-friendly environment in St. Landry Parish, enabling it to compete effectively with neighboring parishes like Lafayette. Fontenot envisions St. Landry Parish at the forefront of economic development and pledges to be a strong advocate on the Parish Council, unafraid to take a stand for the community.
Voters in parts of Opelousas, Sunset, and Grand Coteau will have the opportunity to cast their ballots for District 9 Parish Council Member on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Absentee voting will take place at the St. Landry Parish Courthouse from 8:30 AM until 6:00 PM starting Saturday, September 30 through Saturday, October 8, excluding Sunday, October 1, 2023.
