Northwest Is Second In 3A

Northwest High brought a comprehensive team to the boys’ Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A outdoor track and field meet on Thursday and the Raiders sealed the effort with an impressive addition that will be placed inside the school trophy case.
The Raiders’ boys scored points in nearly every entered event as they finished second overall in the rain-swept meet held at Bernie Moore Track Stadium on the LSU campus.
Northwest (58 points) trailed first-place University High (74), while finishing ahead of third place Glen Oaks (52).
Speed on the track significantly helped the Raiders.
Senior sprinters Kevon Thomas (10.83) and Keithan Vidito (10.95) were first and second respectively in the 100 meters, while Jayden Lazard was first in the 200 meters (21.82).
In the field events Frederick Nimer was second in the discus (155-02), while key points for the Raiders’ boys also developed in two of the relays.
The Raiders were second in the 400 meters relay (42.32), while in the 800 meters, Northwest was third (1:28.18).
Vidito, who plans to continue his track career in college, who along with Johnson, participated in four events.
Northwest scored a fourth place in the 3200 meters relay (8:29.44) and sixth in the 1600 meters relay (3:32.48), while Jayden Jack was sixth in the individual 3200 meters (10:50.11).
Coulton Young was sixth in the long jump (20-3 ½)..
Northwest Girls
In the girls’ events Arielle Lazard finished sixth in the 400 meters (1:00.60). The NWHS girls gained a fifth place with a 3:32.48 time in the 400 meters relay.
