The line of shoppers outside Ollie’s was getting longer as the 9 a.m. grand opening was fast approaching Wednesday morning. Sales associates and Ollie’s management team was also there talking with shoppers and Mayor Julius Alsandor who had arrived for the grand opening event. One sales associate who got my attention immediately was Peggy Grant who was as charming as she could be as she interacted with the shoppers. When I had a chance to talk with Peggy she had just finished talking with the mayor. Peggy is originally from Shreveport but she told me that she has spent most of her adult life in New York. She returned to Shreveport and eventually settled in the town of Washington. After helping to set up the new store Peggy is happy to be a sales associate at Opelousas’ newest business. Did I mention that Peggy is 82 years young and not showing any signs of retiring any time soon.
