Opelousas Police Investigate Shooting on Nash Drive
Opelousas, LA – The Opelousas Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that took place on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m. in the 1300 block of Nash Drive.
Responding officers arrived at the scene and discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined that an argument broke out during a dice game inside an apartment, leading to the shooting. Investigators identified the suspect as Montravious Leblanc, who is believed to have fired the shot that injured the victim.
Later that evening, Montravious Leblanc voluntarily turned himself in to authorities and provided details regarding the incident. In connection with the altercation, investigators also arrested Jordan Leblanc for Simple Battery against the victim, which occurred just before the shooting.
Montravious Leblanc has been booked into the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department Jail on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Illegal Use of Weapons and Dangerous Instrumentalities, and Obstruction of Justice.
