UPDATE | SHOOTING INVESTIGATION – ST. CYR & MADISON
The Opelousas Police Department is providing an update regarding the shooting investigation in the area of St. Cyr Street and Madison Street.
As a result of the investigation, warrants have been issued for the arrest of 34-year-old Jamarcus Stelly of Opelousas.
Stelly is wanted on the following charges:
• Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
• Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
The preliminary investigation indicates that Stelly and another individual were involved in a physical altercation. During the altercation, investigators allege that Stelly retrieved a firearm and began firing in the direction of the other individual.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional arrests are possible as investigators continue to gather evidence and information.
