Opelousas Police apprehended four male juvenile suspects who were placed in custody on Friday after they fled the Creswell Lane Wal-Mart following a late afternoon shooting that investigators said occurred inside a men’s bathroom of the store.

OPD Chief Graig LeBlanc said three of the alleged shooters were caught by officers east of the store shortly after the incident, while another juvenile was located in a parent’s vehicle at a convenience store on the west side of Creswell.

No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting, added LeBlanc, who said the juveniles involved range in ages 12-to-16 years of age..

LeBlanc said the shooting investigation is in the initial stages.

However LeBlanc said that apparently three or four shots were fired from a 9-millimeter handgun at 3:38 pm towards one of the restroom stalls.

Store personnel evacuated customers shortly after the shooting, LeBlanc said.

“The shots were fired and after the incidents all of the juveniles immediately fled the store. Three of them were caught hiding around the Ranch Road area. Another suspect was found across I-49 sitting in the vehicle with what we think is a parent,” said LeBlanc.
