On June 19, 2023 just after 1:00 A.M. Officers with the Opelousas Police Department were called to investigate a robbery that occurred near a business in the 1100 Blk. of S. Union St.

The victim reported to officers that as he was leaving work he was approached by two armed suspects who were wearing masks. The suspects physically assaulted the victim at gunpoint then left in his 2019 Dodge Charger.

Investigators with the Opelousas Police department developed information which identified 21 year old John Floyd Manuel of Opelousas as a suspect. It was learned that Manuel was on probation for a previous arrest. Officers with the Louisiana Office of probation and parole attempted to make contact with Manuel in regards to the investigation, Manuel fled from P&P officers on Tuesday afternoon near his residence on Lemoine Dr. Manuel ultimately came in to speak with investigators regarding the investigation. After an interview Manuel was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail for one count of Armed Robbery. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
