Trio Arrested for attempted Catalytic Converter Thefts 4.22.22
On April 22, 2022, at approximately 1:35 AM Officers with the Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to the Evangeline’s Down Race Track casino referenced to a report of suspicious persons getting underneath a vehicle with tools and a jack.

Guidroz has confirmed that his office has received a grant to deter and combat illegal activity in regard to firearms, controlled dangerous substances and gang activity in St. Landry Parish. This grant will allow deputies to target violent crimes and identify violent offenders in order to prosecute on a state or federal level.

A second suspect has been taken into custody in reference to the February 2022 homicide of Mr. Corey Rosette Jr. who was found deceased from gunshot injuries in his home on February 14, 2022.

On February 6, 2022, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to 107 Highway 3043 (Knights of Columbus Hall) in Opelousas relative to a shooting.

Opelousas Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a second suspect involved in a March 19, 2022 shooting.
St. Landry Parish Corrections Deputy Arrested for Malfeasance in Office
According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “During the evening hours of December 12, 2021, the victim, who was then incarcerated at the St. Landry Parish Jail, was being combative with the officers and placed in the restraint chair, which would prevent the victim from harming himself or others.
