Traffic was heavy in Park Vista Subdivision Friday afternoon as Park Vista Elementary under the guidance of Principal Ulysse Joubert held their annual Mardi Gras parade. Parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters and just about anyone who loves a parade lined several streets in the subdivision to watch a bevy of floats and marching bands plus a variety of other Mardi Gras revelers walking in the neighborhood parade. The PVE parade was just the start of the fun events scheduled for Opelousas. On Saturday at the St. Landry Parish Visitors Center Zydeco Capital Jam gets underway from 1 to 3 p.m. featuring accordion aces Mark Ardoin and Ryan Perkins. Fat Tuesday promises to be a good one in Opelousas as the annual Mardi Gras parade is scheduled to roll down Landry Street beginning at 11 a.m.
