Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “On July 16, 2026, Narcotics Detectives spotted a traffic
violation while conducting proactive criminal patrol. The subsequent investigation resulted in
the seizure of two firearms, one of them stolen out of Acadia Parish. Detectives also learned
that the passenger, Arthur Freeman, Jr., is a convicted felon, currently on parole until 2028 and
is prohibited from possessing firearms. As Freeman claimed ownership of the firearms, he was
taken into custody.” Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “With all of the technology available to us,
which is indispensable, sometimes good, old-fashion police work and tactics can rule the day.
Having specialized units that can conduct these proactive criminal patrols is a crucial part of our
operations.”
