The historic Michel Prudhomme Home on Sunday hosted a first annual Picnic On The Lawn event that featured an afternoon gathering that highlighted elements of food, friendship and families.
Those arriving were treated to a brown bag lunch of chicken salad, croissants, desserts, fruit and other treats as they spent several hours seated around tables engaged in lively discussions underneath the shade of the several oak trees.
Children were entertained with a variety of lawn games.
The Preservationists of St. Landry, Inc., which prepared the luncheon and served their guests, used the occasion as a second 2023 fund raising opportunity that will be used to finance a number of significant number of renovations for the home which was built during the late 18th century.
In December the preservationist group is planning an annual membership event that features snacks and beverages.
Those intending to attend the December 3 gathering at the home are invited to become members of the organization and view the presentation ceremony for the St. Landry Preservationist of The Year. Story and photos by Bobby Ardoin.
