The annual Opelousas Noon Rotary Club auction will become a live event this year with participants and guests treated to an exclusive dinner at the Evangeline Downs Events Center and the chance to bid on a variety of items.

Instead of placing bids during a telecast as was done previously, the Nov. 10 auction event sponsors who participate at Evangeline Downs, will receive dinner tickets and experience a three-course supper before the bidding starts.

Doors at the Events Center open at 5:30 p.m. before the auction program starts about an hour later.

Items expected to be presented for bid usually include antiques, artwork, tools, furniture, crafts, gift certificates and more.

In addition to the live bidding, the event will feature a silent auction that will make things more interesting.

Several sponsorship levels remain available for the event that benefits a number of charities supported by Opelousas’ oldest rotary club which held its first meeting in 1922.

The $1,000 Diamond sponsors receive eight dinner tickets and brochure recognition. Other sponsors receiving brochure recognition are Platinum ($500 and 4 dinner tickets), Gold ($250, two dinner tickets and brochure notification).

The silver sponsors are eligible for one dinner ticket.

Charities scheduled to benefit from the event include the Boys and Girls Clubs of Acadiana, Hope for Opelousas, Dolly Parton’s Imaginary Library, CASA of St. Landry and Evangeline Inc., Sexual Assault Center, The Refinery Mission, Cerebral Palsy Clinic and Service Above Self awards.
