Candace Papillion enjoyed her role as the 2024-25 Opelousas Noon Rotary Club president that she has decided to perform an encore.

Papillon, an executive with the Opelousas branch of Evangeline Bank, was installed for a second consecutive term on Monday night during the annual installation ceremony held at Barry’s Restaurant in downtown Carencro.

“I was asked by a number of members in the club if I would mind serving another term as president and since I have enjoyed it, I had no problem in deciding to do it again,” Papillon said.

During the past year the Noon club has raised enough money to provide charitable donations for a number of St. Landry Parish non-profits.

Most of the funding has come from an annual auction that is held live each August or September.

Installed as officers along with Papillion were vice-president Gloria Sonnier, secretary Susan Litton, treasurer Don D’Avy and Bruce Gaudin, membership director.

Rotary District governor Greg Landry of Lafayette told those attending the event that the Noon Rotary club has 34 active members, with 15 of those reaching Paul Harris Fellow status.

Additionally Landry revealed the club has one major donor and spoke on the potential for Rotary clubs to provide grant funding that could be used for projects that serve the public either locally or internationally.

Landry and Gaudin provided brief summaries of their recent trip to the annual Rotary International Convention in Calgary, Canada.
