Headline: Rotary Schedules Annual Auction
The Rotary Club of Opelousas plans to host an annual television auction that will be televised Oct. 1 from 6 pm until 10 pm.
According to club members, the beneficiaries for the 2024 auction are several St. Landry Parish non-profits that include the Boys & Girls Club, Hope For Opelousas, United Way Imaginary Library, The Refinery Mission, CASA, the Sexual Assault Center, Service Above Self Awards and the Cerebral Palsy Clinic.
All funding from the auction will remain inside St. Landry, club members have indicated.
Several local stations will televise the auction.
Among the participating stations are Broadcast Channel 50.2, Cox Channel 9, LUS Channel 22, Charter Channel 11, KDCG-TV Broadcast Channel 22 and the H&I Network,
Bids can be made live during the television broadcasts by calling 337-706-0110.
A number of auction items will include antiques, crafts, tool and yard equipment, jewelry, gift certificates to area restaurants, furniture, bales of hay, gift certificates for area businesses, framed posters and artwork.
Winning bidders can collect their items beginning Oct. 5 at the United Way building at 5367 I-49 South Service Road. The building is also currently used as the St. Landry Parish Economic Development Office.
The deadline to pick up items is Oct. 27, 2024.
Several levels of corporate and private funding have been obtained in order to fund the auction. There names can be found in brochures which have been printed in order to publicize the auction.
