St. Landry Parish Government Investigators Arrest Resident on Multiple Animal Cruelty Charges
Opelousas, LA – Following an ongoing investigation, St. Landry Parish Government Investigators have arrested Khouri Frisch, of 978 Mulberry Road, Opelousas, on 14 counts of simple animal cruelty and 1 count of aggravated animal cruelty.
The arrest comes after authorities discovered multiple animals on the property without proper shelter or access to clean water. Additional animals were found to be suffering from untreated medical conditions and lacked necessary veterinary care.
All animals—excluding a few free-range chickens that could not be safely captured—have been removed from the property and are currently in the custody of St. Landry Parish Animal Control. Each is undergoing medical assessment and treatment. The most seriously injured animals were evaluated immediately upon intake by a licensed veterinarian.
“This type of neglect is unacceptable in our parish,” said Parish President Jessie Bellard. “We remain committed to protecting the welfare of animals and holding individuals accountable for violations of animal cruelty laws.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and further charges may be pending. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact St. Landry Parish Government Investigators at 337-948-3688.
