Sexual Battery (3 cts.)
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz stated, “This investigation represents a cold-case matter that initially occurred in
October 1994. The victims who were juveniles at the time of the alleged crime, shall not be named.” Sheriff
Guidroz goes on to report, “The alleged rape and sexual battery incidences are stated to have taken place in the
Lawtell area. The suspect Leday is related to the victims, who state that the acts were committed over a three-
year period when the children would visit.” Sheriff Guidroz continues, “These alleged crimes represent some of
the most difficult and challenging cases law enforcement is entrusted with pursuing. The passage of time, the
extreme trauma endured by the victims and other factors contribute to their difficulty. The effort and abilities of
our Juvenile Detectives was instrumental in bringing this case forth.” Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “I want to
personally thank the victims for coming forth and placing their trust in us. Their bravery in dealing with such a
traumatic event over these many years cannot be overstated.”
