Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “On June 11, 2025, St. Landry Parish deputies and area EMS were dispatched
to 1310 Jennings Road for a possible shooting victim. Upon their arrival, it was learned that David Joachain, 54
years old, died from an apparent gunshot wound. Additional resources from our Patrol Division and Criminal
Investigations Division were immediately sent to the scene to begin the long, arduous work of processing the
crime scene.” Sheriff Guidroz continues, “Within a few hours, information came forth that led investigators to
Jared Wells as a person of interest. After the execution of a search warrant and additional information from our
citizens, Wells was located and taken into custody without incident.” Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “We take
some solace in that, when tragedy strikes, we all unite in the common cause of seeking justice for our victims
and their families. Our Patrol resources and our Criminal Investigative Division worked incredibly well
together to bring a swift resolution to this tragic event.”
