The soon to be opened visitors center at the St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial received a gift in the form of a statue of an American eagle with helmet and boots donated by Blake and Monette Gerace. During a ceremony Saturday afternoon the statue was placed in the visitors center in remebrance of the fallen who have given all for their country. Accepting the statue was Pat Mason Guillory, SLP Veterans Memorial CEO, and board members Theresa Stelly, Vernon Marks, Rose Hollier and Jerome Gaudet. According to Guillory the center is nearing completion and should be opening in the next couple of monthsl.
