This message is written to bring to your attention a factual error in your recent article published August 16, 2024, titled “Resident Says Solar Project Interrupts Her Life”.

According to the article, Doris White, a Plaisance resident, stated that the solar plant lowered her standard of living as well as that of her neighbors.  She also stated that she and others living nearby are retirees who exist financially on a fixed income.

You then inaccurately referred to most of those residents as being “farmers”.   Your statement is not only false, but it is an insult to current and previous residents of the community.  Residents living nearby Doris White and the majority of retired residents in the Plaisance community are NOT “farmers who have had their routines interrupted by daily construction noise..”.

This misrepresentation of the community is not taken lightly as it can lead to misunderstandings about a renowned community that has graduated educators, doctors, lawyers, dentists, college professors, professional athletes, business men and women, political activists, civil rights activists, nurses, etc. from Plaisance High School and Northwest High School.

We kindly request that you update your article to accurately reflect the information presented.

In addition, a correction to the article accurately depicting that most of the residents are not “farmers” would be greatly appreciated.  Of note, we believe that previous jobs held by retirees and others in the community hold no bearing on the nature of the discussion and as is irrelevant to the discussion.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Best regards,
Current and former residents of the Plaisance Community
