In preparation of Tropical Storm Francine, the following schools have announced early dismissal times and closures:

St. Landry Parish schools and administrative offices will dismiss early on Tuesday, September 10. Schools will follow early dismissal schedules for bus and car riders. Times will vary by school.

 All schools and offices will remain closed on Wednesday. This closure also applies to all after-school activities and sports practices scheduled for these days.  

Good Shepherd Montessori School in Port Barre will be releasing students at noon Tuesday and will be closed Wednesday.

Opelousas Catholic will have a full day of school tomorrow, September 10th and will be closed on Wednesday, September 11th. All events after school are cancelled on Tuesday (including Open House).

Westminster Christian Academy Opelousas will have early dismissal tomorrow, September 10th. Campus will be closed Wednesday, September 11th and Thursday, September 12th.

LSU Eunice will close its campus on Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12 due to the expected path of Tropical Storm Francine. The LSUE administration will continue to monitor the storms’ track and severity for any additional updates.

Additional Event Cancelations:

  • Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry scheduled for Wednesday, at the Yambilee Building is canceled.
  • St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office TRIAD scheduled for Wednesday in Eunice has been canceled.

St. Landry Parish Government will have sandbags are available for pickup today, Monday September 9, at the Yambilee Building, located at 1939 W. Landry Street in Opelousas. Distribution will continue from now until 7:00 PM tonight.

Anyone unable to come out for sandbags, contact Parish Government for assistance at (337) 948-3688. The National Hurricane Center predicts a Category 1 Hurricane at landfall by Wednesday evening, but a strong storm is still possible.
