While workng as a photographer for the Daily World and St. Landry Now I could always depend on Park Vista Elementary for a feature picture and story thanks to Principal Ulysse Joubert. And there were many PVE photos over the years. Ulysse would never forget to let m know when some event was coming up at the school, and there were many that always included his beloved students. Some of my best features were the school’s Mardi Gras parade and chicken run, Ulysse saw to it that the Mamou Mardi Gras group would bring their live chickens for the kids to chase around the school yard and of course the school’s Mardi Gras Parade that rivaled many local parades in the area. There was the school’s International Student Day where foreign students would highlight the foods of their countries. Every graduation season he would welcome back graduating seniors that began their education at PVE for a return to the school in caps and gowns for a last walk around the school campus. Thank you Ulysse for letting me showcase some of the many events that you brought to Park Vista Elementary. You will be missed and rest in peace my friend,
