An American flag which once flew over The Capitol was presented on Friday to members of the St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial Center by representatives of the U.S. Congressman Clay Higgins.

The flag was accepted by Pat Mason-Guillory, Veterans Memorial project executive director and her staff during a brief ceremony.,The flag is displayed inside a display case at the Veterans Memorial Center which was dedicated earlier this year.

John Chautin and Josh Adams represented Higgins, who was elected by voters in the Third Louisiana Congressional District.

Chautin, a 1988 graduate of Opelousas High School, is the district director for Higgins, who now resides in Lafayette.

Adams, originally from Port Barre, is law enforcement coordinator and veterans outreach coordinator for the Third Congressional District.

Chautin said during an interview that flags which have flown over The Capitol, are normally presented by Higgins’ office during special occasions, especially those that involve veterans.
