WCA Boys Lead Parish 1A

The Westminster Christian Academy boys recorded the top finish among St. Landry Parish teams that competed in the annual Class 1A Louisiana High School Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field meet held Wednesday at LSU.
WCA finished fifth among the boys’ teams, with the Crusaders 4×400-meters relay team placing second along with Westminster triple jumper Jeremyah Harris and pole vaulter Parker Campo, who also earned runners-up places on the winners’ platform.
The relay team clocked a 3:33.15 time, as Stephen George, Evan Lemon, Chimaobi Okechukwu and Mac Proffitt made the exchanges.
Harris scored his eight points with a 45-0 ¼-foot triple jump.
Campo provided the other second-place finish as he cleared the bar with an 11-foot, five-inch pole vault.
Other Top Parish Finishes
St. Edmund of Eunice featured a first and fourth place finish in the field events..
The Blue Jays’ Aubrie LeJeune, a veteran state meet performer, won the girls’ javelin with a 124-8-inch throw.
St. Edmund pole vaulter Oscar Summerlin was fourth in the boys’ pole vault with a 10-11-foot attempt.
Other WCA Performances
The remaining points for WCA in both boys’ and girls’ events came in the field events and long distances.
Junior Magnolia Henrich added a pair of points in the girls’ running events with a fifth place in the 800 meters (2:36.6), while Chisom and Chimaobi Okechukwu added fourth places in the 1600 and 3200 meters.
Kenzi George of Westminster was fifth in the girls’ triple jump (34-10 ½).
Around The Parish
North Central scored significant points for both the Hurricanes’ boys’ and girls’ entries.
In the field events, Mariah Davenport of NCHS was fifth in the high jump (4-11 ¾), while Michael Doucet placed fifth among the boys’ triple jumpers (42-4 ½).
Joelyn Pickney was fifth in the 110-meters hurdles (15.77).
Two North Central boys’ relay teams provided a cumulative six points. In the 800-meters relay, the Hurricanes completed a fifth-place exchange (1:33.92). In the 400 meters relay, the ‘Canes were fourth (43.91).
The North Central girls were fifth in the 400 meters relay (52.39).
More Opelousas Finishes
Opelousas Catholic double event performer Aysia Francis was fourth in the javelin (107-11) and sixth in the 400 meters (1:03.88) for a cumulative five points.
J.S. Clark featured a sixth place long jump from Dre’ Sean Payne (19-7 ½) and the fourth place from Kevin Brown in the 110 hurdles (15-47).
