Macaroni KID Acadia-St. Landry hosted a back to school community event with a school Supply Drive on Sunday.

It was a Sunday Funday in the park as kids enjoyed the splash pad and fun activities while parents picked up supplies for school. The community came together to donate school supplies and resources for the Pack the Park event held in Port Barre. Fifty pre-filled bags of school supplies were handed out to local families with school-aged kids and personal care bags were provided with feminine care items for girls.

Local vendors also came out to provide information and resources for local families. Opelousas General had a cookie-decorating station for fun and tasty treats.

DentaQuest was on-site to provide information on low cost dental care benefits for eligible families and handed out free dental hygiene kits to the kids. Mrs. Patrice Melnick with the Opelousas Museum & Interpretive Center came out to provide informational brochures about the museum.

The kids enjoyed train rides with 2KB Farms LLC. The splash pad helped kids keep their cool in the heat. Families that signed up for the weekly newsletter were entered into a drawing with prizes that were given away.
