8 August 2023 (OPELOUSAS, Louisiana) – State Representative Dustin Miller is embarking on his third term as District 40 State Representative, bringing with him a wealth of experience. Throughout his eight years of service, he has been a pivotal member of the appropriations committee, contributing extensively to shaping crucial financial decisions.
Notably, he played a vital role in crafting this year’s impressive $46.5 billion budget, showcasing his dedication to responsible fiscal management and effective administration. His commitment to public safety is evident through preventive measures, law enforcement collaboration, and criminal justice reform advocacy.
He has collaborated with local mayors to creatively fund city needs during his previous term. His focus included addressing aging infrastructure for water, sewer, bridges, drainage, and roads, significantly improving Opelousas and St. Landry Parish areas. He secured funding for projects like water and sewer
improvements, library renovations, and upgrading water meters, benefiting education, public safety, and sanitation. Miller prioritizes education, supporting teachers and advocating for improvements from early childhood through higher education.
Once elected again, one of his upcoming priorities is to lower insurance rates for Louisiana families and small businesses. Another priority is expanding broadband internet access to underserved areas across the state. He prides himself in working with local mayors and other elected officials in addressing our local priorities while focusing on our future generations.
