Macaroni KID Acadia-St. Landry’s Guide on Summer Camps, Programs, and Classes

Courtney Jennings, Macaroni KID Publisher/Editor

Summer camps are a great time for Macaroni KID Acadia-St. Landry kids to try new things, nurture unique interests, meet new friends, stretch their creativity, and have tons of summer fun with a list of local camps and programs available for local families.

Macaroni KID Acadia-St. Landry, a local publication for families on things to do with kids, has published their complete guide on fun programs, summer camps, and classes that are available to keep the kids busy all summer long. Below we’ve highlighted the programs for St. Landry parish residents, but you can find the complete guide on Macaroni KID Acadia-St. Landry Summer Guide.

Free Summer Camp Programs

A new program is coming to Opelousas that will be available for youth through the organization Guns Down Power Up.

Founder of the program, Eric Williams is partnering with the Opelousas Marshal’s Office to host a summer camp, FREE of charge to allow youth in the community the opportunity to participate in a summer camp program. In order to ensure the success of the program, however, Williams is seeking help from volunteers, aids, and community sponsors to make this program possible for underprivileged families who can not afford the price tag of traditional programs.

Through the partnership with the Opelousas/Ward 1 Marshal’s office, classrooms have been made available at North Elementary School located at 308 W. Martin Luther King Drive in Opelousas. “Opelousas Marshal Paul Mouton has been a true blessing. We want better for our community and it’s only one way to do it working together” – Eric Williams.

The program is set to take place beginning June 10 through July 26 (excluding the week of July 4th). Activities will include empowerment, goal-planning with a vision board, power of the vote, no bully left behind, dress for your vision, and power up art as well as outdoor activities.

Business owners, community leaders, and sponsors are urged to contact the founder, Eric Williams at 337-401-2545 or Marie Williams 337-692-8028 to help support this mission of transforming neighborhoods into communities through developing the minds of children as we help them to discover their purpose, value, and worth.
