Opelousas police officers are still investigating a Dec. 26 drive-by shooting that occurred at a residence located in the 1300 block of Henry Street.

Multiple injuries were reported due to the incident, but police say none of the victims who experienced graze wounds and were inside the house when the shooting occurred, were willing to be treated.

According to police investigators, numerous shots were fired into the house from a moving vehicle that witnesses identified as a small SUV. Witnesses also claimed to see a young black male running down the street as the vehicle moved away from the residence that was struck.

Witnesses to the shooting noted that at shots fired towards the house also struck a vehicle parked at the residence.

Opelousas police investigator Michael Hidalgo said detectives working the scene recovered 60 pieces of evidence that included shell casings.
