The first seven minutes told the story for Beau Chene Friday night.
It didn’t take long to establish dominance in the District 5-4A contest with the Gators as Cecilia was off to a three-touchdown lead that continued growing to the 48-7 eventual outcome as Beau Chene dropped a fifth-straight game while falling to 0-2 in league games.
Cecilia, which has won three straight league championships rushed for 168 yards and passed for another 109 as Beau Chene dropped to 1-6 overall.
The Gators were limited to 120 rushing yards and another 50 passing as Matthew Mayfield completed six-of-12 attempts.
Mayfield was the offensive highlight for Beau Chene, scoring on a 76-yard run in the third quarter and rushing for all but 20 of the Gators’ yards on the ground.
Cecilia running backs Germonie Davis and Ridge Collins combined for 91 of the Bulldogs’ rushing yards. Davis also caught two passes for 58.
The loss marked the fifth straight game that the Gators have surrendered 40 or more points.
