The Homecoming game celebration began early in Church Point Friday night.

Church Point running back Tylon Citizen lighted the fuse for a 44-point first half scoring explosion as the Bears remained undefeated in District 4-3A with a 50-8 victory over Northwest High.

Citizen scored on an early 50-yard reception from quarterback Jaden Reese and added a second touchdown six game-clock minutes later on a 58-yard run.

Later in the game Citizen added two more TD’s with a 12-yard catch on a pass thrown by Luke Baudoin and a late three-yard second period run.

Citizen completed the game with eight carries and 132 yards and another 62 on receptions.

Church Point (7-0) also remained undefeated after four district games.

Northwest (3-4, 1-2), which has fought injuries during the last four weeks, has lost three of the last four games.

The lone Raiders’ touchdown against Church Point came with 2:30 left in the third period when Devon Anders scored on a three-yard run.

Northwest was limited to 180 yards total offense. Anders obtained 55 of the Raiders’ 108 rushing yards, while quarterback Devin Zachary completed six of 13 passing attempts for 72 yards.

The Raiders were plagued by possession issues. Northwest lost all three fumbles and the Raiders were also intercepted once.

Church Point meanwhile rushed for 271 of the Bears’ 374 total offensive yards.
