April 30, 2026Town of Melville Gas System Public Awareness/Damage Prevention Notice Please read the following gas system safety information. It is provided to promote public awareness and damage prevention awareness. The Town of Melville owns and operates a natural gas distribution system. The gas system consists of an underground network of pipelines throughout the Town and in areas adjacent to the Town limits. The purpose of the gas system is to provide a reliable and safe economical source of energy for heating purposes to the homes and businesses adjacent to the underground gas pipelines. The pipeline system has the capacity to reliably deliver natural gas to the customers. The hazards of natural gas are that it is: odorless, colorless, tasteless, lighter than air and can ignite and/or explode with tremendous force when mixed with the right amount of air. April 29, 2026 Boosie Arrives In O-Town BOBBY ARDOIN St. Landry Now.com Editor Boosie Badazz shed what he calls his “happy tears,” on Wednesday as he arrived at Opelousas’ Delta Grand Theatre to promote his upcoming concert. Formerly known as Lil’ Boosie, the 43-year-old, nationally-known rapper received a proclamation from St. Landry Parish president Jessie Bellard, who declared May 10 as “Boosie Badazz Day.” The parishwide acknowledgement and the Mother’s Day parish Agricultural Arena concert that begins at noon, seemed to emotionally capture Boosie, as Bellard read the proclamation. “No one has ever done this for me,” Boosie said in an interview afterward. Boosie said that the Opelousas-area crowd was always important for him as he launched his career nearly 30 years ago. “I’ve been coming here for a long time and I’m just really grateful. April 29, 2026Sunset Mini Mart Shooting The Sunset Police Department comes to Crime Stoppers and asks yourhelp in identifying multiple offenders involved in a shooting.On March 25, 2026 at about 6:24 pm, officers were dispatched to ashooting at the Sunset Mini Mart, located at 914 Napoleon Avenue inSunset.The investigation revealed that three male subjects exited a SilverChevrolet Impala, LA license 577GHK and entered the store while afourth male remained in the vehicle. While in the store, the threesubjects had an intense confrontation with a single male subjecttowards the rear of the store. At one point, one of the suspectsproduced a handgun and fired multiple shots at the victim. April 29, 2026Class Meets After 60 years BOBBY ARDOIN St. Landry Now.com Editor About 20 members of the 1966 boys and girls Academy of The Immaculate Conception graduating class met on Monday during a daytime, three-hour reunion held at a Lafayette restaurant. The informal event held underneath the Agave Restaurant pavilion on Kaliste Saloom, was planned with primary help from class members Fred Credeur, Robert Voitier and Debbie Dossman Gooch. Reunion items provided for the attendees included sunglasses and official AIC t-shirts. Songs that were popular during the mid-1960’s played as the former classmates became reacquainted and recalled classroom, athletic and social events that defined their AIC experience. During the reunion, class members also had access to photos and articles from The Wildcat, student newspaper in addition to vintage black and white photographs taken during their high school days.
