Please see the following announcement about the next Cenla Author’s Club Meeting:

Dearest Friends, We will have a real treat in just 5 days: Writer/Producer/Author/Humorist DAVID LUCK will be entertaining us by sharing his experiences in life and thru his writings. He is driving all the way from Lafayette just to speak with you and meet you on this coming Thursday night, July 27th, at 6 pm at Westside Regional Library on Provine Place. I know that I am looking forward to hearing him speak.

He is also featured in this month’s CENLA FOCUS magazine and will be on “Good Day Cenla” on KALB on Thursday morning at 11 am if you want to check him out first. This is his ONLY APPEARANCE in north Louisiana!

Note the attachment on the July “Author of the month” WALLY SMITH, one of our devoted regulars. The

August “Author of the Month” will be announced by Karen Simmons at the meeting.

“Congratulations to the Cenla Author’s Club!”- We are now an OFFICIAL program of the Rapides Parish Library, a unique honor. No, you will not be getting rid of me yet, but our club activities will be fully promoted by the library system! Yeh!

Our Annual “Friends Of The Rapides Parish Library Book Sale” starts in just 11 days, on Wednesday, August 3rd at 9 am at the MAIN library on Washington Street. You can buy a GIANT bag of books AND a quality, well-made bag for just $10. Wow! (I saw someone last year jam 25 books in one bag!) The sale hours and days are: Thursday, 8/3  9-6; Friday, 8/4  9-6; Saturday, 8/5  9-2 (closing time) An “Antiques Roadshow” type appraiser will be available on Thursday and Friday 9-1 and all day Saturday. He will:
(1) tell you the history and importance of each item brought in; (2) tell you how to better care for the item and (3) give you a current market value for just $3 an item. ALL monies go to library programs. This will be a lot of fun!

At the meeting on Thursday night, there will also be a lot of special book door prizes given to attendees. Everyone is always invited- no admission cost or dues! You don’t have to be even an “author” to attend!!

See you then.  Michael W.
