Five St. Landry Parish girls’ basketball teams have qualified for the state playoffs, according to postseason brackets released on Monday afternoon by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.

North Central, which is the top-seeded team in the parish, has a first round bye, meaning the No. 2 Hurricanes will not play until the regionals scheduled next week.

Other teams qualifying for the post season included (No.11) Northwest High, (No. 13) Opelousas High, (No. 14) Westminster Christian Academy and (No. 16) J.S. Clark Leadership Academy.

Opelousas and J.S. Clark host first round games scheduled Wednesday night.

Northwest plays at home on Thursday night.

All games are set for 6 p.m.

Here is a summary of the first-round match ups and the possible regional round opponents:

Class 4A

McMain (No. 20) at (No. 13) Opelousas High. The winner plays either (No. 4) South Lafourche or (No. 29) Westgate

Class 3A

Abbeville (No. 20) at (No. 11) Northwest. The winner played either (No. 6) Mansfield or (No. 22) Patterson.

Class 1A

North Central (No.2) has a first round bye. North Central plays either (No. 15) Montgomery or (No. 18) Elton.

Class B

Bell City (No. 17) at (No. 16) J.S. Clark. The winner plays (No.1) Hathaway).

Division IV

Westminster Christian (No. 14) at (No. 3) St John-Plaquemine. The winner plays (No. 11) Hanson or (No. 18) St, Martins
