Versatile St. Landry Parish Assessor’s Office employee Letitia Dartez was recognized Tuesday as the 2025 Employee Of The Year during the noon meeting of the Opelousas Noon Rotarian Club.
Dartez, who handles the duties of accounts payable, office manager and personal assistant to Assessor Sherri McGovern, was one of 16 Noon Rotarian members employees who were honored during the weekly meeting.
The meeting, according to some of the Rotarians who were in attendance on Tuesday, was one of the liveliest of the past year.
Honorees spent much of their time in groups, creating personal bath bombs with ingredients contained in kits.
Some of the employee nominees also received gifts following a series of drawings.
Dartez, McGovern explained in an email, has been her office assistant for two decades.
“She was my administrative assistant and accounts payable clerk at the Sheriff’s Department. When I took office as assessor, (Dartez) had retired from the Sheriff’s Department, so I hired her as my office manager.
“As she did at the Sheriff’s Office, (Dartez) keeps our office running smoothly, volunteers to assist anywhere and everywhere in the office and goes above and beyond,” McGovern wrote in a testimony submitted in connection with the Employee of The Year nominations.
McGovern said that during the past year, Dartez has continue to perform her Assessor’s Office duties despite complications from illnesses of family members.
“(Dartz) has never neglected her duties at the office, even when that required her to take work home, work after hours, or work on weekends,” McGovern wrote.
