JeMarcus McLendon was sentenced today to two life sentences for the first-degree murders of Nakia Ramer and Shawn Parish. Ramer and Parish were brutally murdered during the early morning hours of September 24, 2016, on Cosay Road just hours after Shawn Parish celebrated his 19th birthday. The St. Landry parish jury was selected on January 1 1, 2023.

The jury of twelve reached the unanimous verdict on February 2, 2023, after many days of evidence which included numerous witnesses, cell phone content and cell record mapping. The two life sentences will be served without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence; the court ordered that the sentences are to be served consecutively.
