Opelousas General Health System Foundation will be Painting the Town Pink (PTTP) in October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We are inviting our community to join us in our efforts to educate and bring about awareness of breast cancer.
We are making a difference by providing free education and mammograms to women and men who are uninsured or underinsured in our community. St. Landry Parish is above the national average for mammography screenings due to availability and access to annual screenings and testing provided by PTTP.
2023 marks our 15-year anniversary of this educational and fundraising initiative. Our theme this year is “We Bee-Lieve in a Cure”. We are excited to have our welcome our Title Sponsor, Mary Bird Perkins and our Presenting Sponsor, Catalyst Bank, as partners for this event. We will kick off our initiative on Friday, September 29, with a public breast cancer awareness t-shirt sale and breast cancer education by Mary Bird Perkins’ Prevention on the Go (POGO) unit at OGHS Main Campus, located at 539 E. Prudhomme Street. We are asking everyone to show support by wearing a PTTP t-shirt or something pink every Friday in October.
A “pinkest” business and school decorating contest, painting event, and bra decorating contest are also planned for the month of October. We encourage participation in all these events. Registration information about each event can be found on our website.
