Auzenne Named Regimental Commander at VMI
Virginia Military Institute recently announced the Class of 2026 leaders of the 186 th Regiment for
the 2025-26 academic year.
Devin Auzenne, a history major from Opelousas, Louisiana, was named first captain and
regimental commander (RCO), the highest-ranking position a cadet can hold. He applied for the
position because he felt an obligation to strive for success for the many people who have helped
him along his life’s path. His goal as RCO is to foster an environment where cadets excel and are
empowered to better the Corps.
Auzenne graduated from Beau Chêne High School in Arnaudville, Louisiana, and chose to come
to VMI after receiving a four-year Marine Corps scholarship. “I wanted to be as prepared as
possible to lead once I commission. VMI has a great Marine officer program as well as
leadership opportunities within the Corps of Cadets,” he said.
As a 3 rd Class cadet, he served as cadre corporal and as a 2 nd , he served as regimental sergeant
major. He was a member of the Regulators boxing club, and is involved with the aviation club,
the Jiu-Jitsu club, and is the secretary for the Virginia History Society.

Throughout his life, he has had many role models including his parents, John and Katrina
Auzenne, along with his dyke (cadet mentor), Joe Egbo ’23, and several other cadets. His most
memorable VMI experience was Ring Figure. “It was an indescribable feeling of maturity, and a
time to reflect on past triumphs against adversity with my brother rats, who I know will be my
friends for life,” he shared.
