Park Vista Elementary sort of looked like a mini United Nations Thursday afternoon as the school celebrated their annual International Day to honor the foreign students from seventeen countries.

Dressed in their country’s native garb the students were very impressive as they paraded around the school campus before making it to the cafeteria where the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by Jose Arellano, Evelyn Maldonado and Colleen Beltran. Following the welcome a song by the French Immersion students was followed by a dance also performed by French Immersion students. A poem was recited by Ashley Benitez and Noel Hernandez.

Following closing remarks by Assistant Principal Ulysse Joubert who thanked the parents for their love and support and their assistance in making International Day a success. The main part of the program moved to the international buffet where ethnic foods prepared by the parents of the foreign students were available for tasting. Countries represented at PVE include El Savador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, Native American, Pakistan, Palestine, Puerto Rico, China, Vietnam, Nigeria, Ghana, Philippines, Yemen, Nova Scotia, France, Mali, Cote D Ivoir, Egypt and Niger.
