LQHBA SCHOLARSHIP DRAWINGS TO TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY,

DECEMBER 20 AT EVANGELINE DOWNS
$25,000 to be Awarded to Eligible Louisiana Students

OPELOUSAS, Louisiana – The 2025 live racing season in Louisiana will wrap on Saturday,
December 20 at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas. The evening will include the state’s most
accomplished Quarter Horses competing in the richest race in Louisiana, the LQHBA Louisiana
Million Futurity (RG1). Louisiana students will also have reason to celebrate when the
Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association (LQHBA) awards a total of $25,000 in
scholarships.
The LQHBA Scholarship Fund continues to be a high priority to LQHBA and its Board of
Directors, Since the program’s inception in 2001, over $950,000 has been earmarked for
Louisiana students seeking to further their education.
High school graduates and seniors graduating in 2026 wishing to attend a higher education
institution are eligible. A registration table will be located on the main level of the racetrack
beginning at 4:00 pm on December 20 and will close following the sixth race of the evening.
Students must be present for the drawing of six (6) $2,500 scholarships after race seven. Two
(2) $5,000 scholarships will be drawn following race nine.
