FOUR PEOPLE ARRESTED IN IN CONNECTION WITH CONSPIRACY
TO ENTER CONTRABAND INTO THE ST. LANDRY PARISH JAIL
According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On Saturday, July 13, 2024, narcotics detectives
conducted an undercover operation at the Racetrac Gas Station, located at 1018 East
Landry Street in Opelousas. The operation commenced after St. Landry Parish Jail
inmate Kirby Levier approached a corrections deputy and asked the deputy to assist him
with bringing in a large amount of MOJO paper (synthetic marijuana) into the St. Landry
Parish Jail. Inmate Levier instructed the deputy to meet with an unknown suspect at the
Racetrac, pick up several sheets of MOJO paper, and sneak it into the jail. In exchange
for bringing the drugs into the jail, the deputy was to receive $2000.00 in US currency.”
At approximately 1:55 pm, the corrections deputy posing as a “Dirty Sheriff’s Deputy”
met with a black male, later identified as Laudarren Jones, at the Racetrac where
narcotics detectives had previously established physical surveillance on the parking lot.
Detectives observed Jones pull up to the deputy in a black Dodge Journey near the air
compressor in the parking lot. The deputy then approached the driver’s side window of
Jones’ vehicle and Jones handed the deputy one small grocery bag containing a large
amount of MOJO (synthetic marijuana) and $1000.00 in US currency.
Jones then departed the Racetrac, traveling east on US Highway 190 and taking the I-49
southbound exit. Narcotics detectives initiated a traffic stop on Jones, who was
immediately taken into custody and advised of his Miranda Rights. Jones refused to
answer any questions regarding the incident. An additional $698.00 in US currency was
taken off of Jones’ person.
Through the course of the investigation, additional suspects were identified as St. Landry
Parish Jail inmate Kevin Lemons and his accomplice on the outside, who was identified
as Pamela Arvie. All four suspects were active participants with trying to smuggle the
MOJO paper into the St. Landry Parish Jail.
Laudarren Roosevelt Jones was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with
distribution of Schedule I, conspiracy to enter contraband into a penal facility and monies
derived from drug proceeds.
St. Landry Parish Jail inmates Kevin Lemons and Kirby Levier were both charged with
conspiracy to enter contraband into a penal facility and principal to Distribute Schedule I.
On Monday, July 15, 2024, narcotics detectives obtained an active arrest warrant for
Pamela Arvie, charging her with conspiracy to enter contraband into a penal facility and
principal to distribution of Schedule I CDS.
On the same day, narcotics detectives located Arvie outside of the St. Landry Parish
Courthouse where she was taken into custody. Incidental to arrest, detectives located
$2500.00 in US currency on her person.
Pamela Varshell Arvie was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and booked on the
arrest warrant pending against her, as well as monies derived from drug proceeds. [Type text]
