OPELOUSAS RESIDENT ARRESTED ON DRUG AND WEAPONS

CHARGES

According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On July 15, 2024, narcotics detectives with the
St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, assisted by members of the St. Landry Parish Swat
Team, executed a narcotics search warrant at 185 Ebony Drive, in Opelousas. Swat team
members knocked on the door of the residence; however, the target of the investigation,

previously identified as Glenn Babineaux, refused to open the door.  The door was then
breached and Babineaux was located in the hallway of the residence.  He was
immediately taken into custody and no other suspects were located inside the
residence.”  
Babineaux was advised of his rights and patted down for weapons.  During the pat down,
detectives located $446.00 in US currency and two bags of suspected marijuana on his
person.  Babineaux was then secured in handcuffs and placed in the rear of a patrol unit. 
Upon searching the residence, detectives located the following: 
 One Bersa 9mm pistol, which was stolen;
 One small grocery bag containing suspected marijuana;
 One digital scale;
 Crack cocaine manufacturing material;
 Thirty-five (35) hydrocodone pills; and
 $5,000.00 in US currency.
A white 2019 Land Rover, located on the property, was also searched. Detectives located
one SCCY CPX-1 9mm pistol and approximately three (3) grams of suspected crack
cocaine.  
Glenn Babineaux was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with
possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS, possession with intent to distribute
schedule II CDS , manufacturing schedule II CDS , possession with intent to distribute
schedule III CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving proceeds from
drug offenses, possession of a firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a person
convicted of certain felonies (2 counts), illegal carrying of weapons (2 counts), and
illegal possession of stolen firearms.
