The National Association of University Women’s 33rd Annual Black History Hall of Fame Program was held Thursday at Little Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Savoynne Williams presiding over the proceedings. Attending the event was National NAUW President Betty Wilkerson escorted by Branch President Madelyn Rosette.
Following the singing of “Lift Every Voice,” a prayer by Jacintiea Mayon and a musical selection this year’s inductees were introduced. They are Charles Tyler escorted by Rachel Jones; CWL Nancy Carriere escorted by Jacqueline Gradnigo; Hazel Sias escorted by Angela Cassimere; and Juan M. Joseph escorted by Janya Joseph.
The induction ceremony was conducted by Madelyn Rosette, Celina Richard and Jane Edwards followed by a tribute poem by Evavattae Greene-Rodney and a song by Mary R. Doucet Recognition of past honorees was given by Elsie Semien. Recognition of special guests and closing remarks were given by Madelyn Rosette.
