Opelousas Police Investigating Shooting on St. Cyr Street
Opelousas, LA — The Opelousas Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that occurred in the 800 block of St. Cyr Street, leaving one male subject with multiple injuries to his lower extremities.
While on routine patrol in the area, officers heard multiple gunshots ring out and immediately proceeded toward the location. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim lying on the ground. Officers rendered aid at the scene until emergency medical personnel arrived. The victim was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Investigators are currently working to gather evidence and speak with witnesses who were in the area at the time of the shooting.
