A small but patriotic crowd celebrated Flag Day Friday evening with a flag raising ceremony held at the Elks Lodge on Union Street in Opelousas.
The solemn occasion was marked by the attendees singing “America,” and “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Members of the St. Landry Parish Honor Guard were on hand to accept the raising of a new flag on the flag pole in front of the Elks Lodge after members of an U.S. Air Force Honor guard lowered the old flag.
The old flag was accepted by Honor Guard members.
