DOLLAR GENERAL CARD SCAM
Lt. Lecorrian Washington with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office
comes to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in identifying three
individuals who scammed $ 4,500 from a Dollar General.
On June 23, 2025, Deputies responded to a complaint from the
manager of the Dollar General at 5661 Hwy 182 near Sunset, LA. The
manager learned that on June 21, 2025, three unidentified individuals
entered the store and requested to load nine (9) prepaid VISA cards.
The individuals used a type of scamming device and apparent prior
knowledge of the override procedures on the Dollar General point of
sale software. This gave the individuals $ 4,500.00 of prepaid card
value without paying anything to the store. To view footage from the
store surveillance cameras, go to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office
Facebook page.
Anyone with information on this, or any other crime is asked to
