The monthly meeting of the St. Landry Parish Tourist Committee met Thursday, May 21, at the Opelousas Museum and Interpretive Center where Patrice Melnick, museum director was the guest speaker for the event.

Herman Fuselier, SLP Tourism Committee executive director, opened the meeting with a report on his trip to San Diego, Cal. to attend the Gator by the Bay event where he promoted Zydeo and Cajun music and tourism in St. Landry Parish. Gator by the Bay took place recently from May 7–10, 2026 at Spanish Landing Park in San Diego. The festival featured over 100 musical acts across seven stages, dance lessons, and 10,000 pounds of Louisiana crawfish plus several Zydeo and Cajun bands from the Acadiana area in attendance,

Other highlights of the meeting included the Allons Manger addressed by Sarah Wise, marketing manager, and online blogs discussed by Mary Hawkins, communications manager. The meeting concluded with the announcements of upcoming events supported by St. Landry Tourism.
