To the Friends Along the Way —
As Executive Director of St. Landry-Evangeline United Way, after 19 years of service with United Way,
the time has come for me to start the process of retirement that will be effective June 30, 2026. It is a
bittersweet decision and moment—one filled with gratitude, reflection, and deep appreciation for the
people who have walked this journey with me, because I never presumed this to be a solo flight.
To every board member who has served during my time here, and specifically to those here today: thank
you. Your leadership has shaped not only the direction of our United Way, but also the person I am today.
You lifted me up when the work was heavy, you offered guidance when decisions were complex, and you
inspired me with your unwavering commitment to our mission. More than that, some of you were there
during the birth of my twin grandchildren as they fought for their lives, and there during Ed’s bitter fight
with cancer and its ultimate win over him. You were there to lean on, to pray and to give me the
inspiration to keep going.
United Way has always been more than a workplace. It has been a community—a partnership of people
who believe in lifting others, strengthening families, and opening doors for those who need it most. Not
just for those outside our walls, but for each other, as well. So, to every individual, partner agency, or
volunteer: without your own caring compassion, nothing good would happen, and no path would be easy.
You will be remembered and cherished.
Together, we made sure children had access to literacy programs, families received vital services, and
those working hard yet struggling—our ALICE households—had a place to turn for support. At times of
disaster, we were there to help the victims rebuild. I am proud of what we accomplished and honored to
have been part of that impact.
It has truly been the privilege of a lifetime to serve this community alongside all of you.
While I may be stepping away from my role as Executive Director on June 30, my heart will always
remain connected to United Way and to the mission we shared for nearly two decades. Thank you for
trusting me, supporting me, and inspiring me every step of the way. While I announce my retirement, I
will assure you that the next six months will be spent on carrying out our work, assisting in the transition,
and providing you with all the tools you may need regarding guidelines on policies, reporting to UWW,
succession procedures and organizational and administrative protocols for a thriving United Way.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you.
