There was quite a crowd as many community members packed the Equine Center in Opelousas on Wednesday evening for State Representative Dustin Miller. The event served as a campaign fundraiser with support from host sponsors.

A great number of members from the community consisting of business owners and elected officials were in attendance for the event. Guests enjoyed food, drinks and entertainment provided by Jaxon Meche. You could even catch the LSU Baseball game as it was projected on a back wall for those who wanted to follow their winning streak.

Contrary to common belief, there were many elected officials in the room that, despite belonging to different parties, came together in support. Miller said that he has never let political differences affect his relationships with those he’s worked with.

Dustin Miller first took office as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives in January of 2016 and won re-election representing District 40 again in 2019. His current term ends in January and he hopes to serve once again in 2024. If elected, this will be his last term as State Representative.

Miller spoke on his actions during his 8-year term about being direct and vocal on important topics that mattered including education, infrastructure, teacher pay raises, and parks and recreation. Miller addressed the many projects he has successfully lead during his candidacy. Among these projects he was able to bring state funding to the town of Sunset for their new water tower and sewer improvements. He also addressed developments to the Opelousas Parks and Recreation department to keep the kids and families in the parish. Miller delivered the message that he stands up for his community and intends to bring more to St. Landry Parish in the next coming 4 years.

Dustin Miller resides in Opelousas with his wife and children. In addition to representing St. Landry Parish, Miller also serves the community as a Nurse Practitioner with Acadiana Practitioners.
