Severe weather and strong winds on Wednesday morning left thousands of residents across the parish without power and damage to property/homes. St. Landry Parish was especially hit hard along with Acadia and Evangeline parishes with more than 34,000 reported power outages.
Many roads were impassible due to fallen trees as well as downed power lines from the storm.

Due to the extensive damage caused by the storms impacting many families and employees, all St. Landry Parish Public Schools will be closed Thursday, April 11 to allow families time to address any storm impacts while allowing employees to ensure schools are prepared to reopen once conditions approve.
