A comeback World Series championship win was celebrated on Tuesday night as the Louisiana Streauxs youth baseball team appeared before the Opelousas Board of Aldermen,

The 14-and-under team of St. Landry Parish talent moved undefeated through the 15-team bracket composed of teams from Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma to capture the series title.

Prior to winning the World Series title at Broken Bow, Okla., the Streauxs won five first-place tournaments in Lake Charles, St. Francisville, Bossier City and Thibodaux.

“There was a lot of good competition that we played all year. In the championship game, these guys withstood a lot of pressure and came back to win it all in the final game,” said Streauxs head coach Perry Gallow.

Gallow said most of the team has played together since the early youth league era.

“We build our kids up and hold them accountable. They have proven themselves in tough situations throughout the years,” Gallow said.

Besides Gallow the Streauxs coaching staff included Travis Gallow, TJ Calvin, Matt Nugent and David Jones.
